Video One: I like how in this video the student brought up how the advertisement utilized different strategies to capture the attention of the intended audience. I did not like how you couldn't see the whole picture in the presentation though. The picture did pan a little bit, but the audience never got a good view of all of the cars. All and all short, sweet, and too the point, I just think the video presentation could have been a bit better.
Video Two: I like how this student also goes over the different strategies advertisements use to get the attention of the readers, but I really like how the student puts herself in the presentation, telling how she would be effected by the advertisement. I like how she utilized the whole picture in the presentation as well. She showed how each picture related to the advertisement. The only downside I really saw in this one was that it cut off early at the end, which could have just been an editing mistake when it was loaded to this site. I laughed when she was talking about the shaving gel and said "If I were a desperate, single man, I would probably use this" lol! All and all a good presentation.
Video Three: I liked the use of humor and the public service announcement for people with smelly armpits. Especially bringing in a figure most people could identify with Yao Ming, it pinned the advertised product to someone we can identify with as well as just pictures of random people who have problems with perspiration. The Photoshopped picture of the person licking his armpit was funny, but you could obviously tell it was a fake :P
The Social Studies Video: I liked how the student used an emotional song to produce emotion from the people watching this video when put with a controversial topic such as child labor. This works surprisingly well, and I could remember the rescued pets commercial that came on television when I watched this video and had somewhat of the same response to this as I did to that. I felt some wrong had been done and we had to do something to fix it. Even though child labor isn't nearly as bad in the US as the pictures in this video show. The music and slideshow of pictures definitely makes the watcher feel apart of the era and feel for the children involved.
The Story/Personal Story: I liked the imagery and use of onomatopoeia while he was describing an event in his life between his brother and himself. I liked how he used the picture of his brother looking all sweet and innocent with the dog and then humor when he showed his two front teeth in a picture later on after his run in with the clothesline. I especially liked the "I still owe you. Jeremy" at the end of the
presentation. The background music, although I missed it the first time through, added another element to the story that enhanced the telling of the story as well. All and all I enjoyed this story probably the best out of all of them, because I can relate to this situation with my siblings and friends. We all did things like this as kids, and it is a wonder that we all came out of it with no broken bones.
